The world’s most expensive home per square foot has gone on sale and its location is in Hong Kong. The luxury home, situated in the city’s exclusive Victoria Peak district, has gone on the market at £63 million. While this may seem little in comparison with London’s most expensive flat which recently sold in Hyde Park for £140 million, the Hong Kong residence is just a quarter of the size at just 4,600 square feet. That means the property is a whopping £13,500 per square foot.

Despite its size, the property comes with four bedrooms, a swimming pool, jacuzzi and an elevator. Furthermore, the views from the apartment are breath-taking. Many tourists climb the Victoria Peaks for precisely that reason, and the listed Twelve Peaks development property will have exclusive views over the city of Hong Kong and the neighbouring islands.

While steps have been taken by Hong Kong’s government to crack down on high property prices, such as elevated stamp duty for foreign property buyers, demand for luxury housing in the Asian city remains high and developer Sun Hung Kai is looking to take advantage of the high influx of wealthy clients from mainland China.

Previously, the most expensive home in Hong Kong was sold in 2011. A £61 million, 6,000 square foot apartment also located in the Victoria Peak district.
