Every year in August, the Monterey Peninsula in California hosts one of the most impressive gatherings of automobiles in the world. The Monterey Car Week, which this year runs from August 11th through to the 17th, is a super car and vintage car fan’s paradise with an explosion of auctions, driving events, competitions, and exhibitions hitting the beautiful Californian bay. The cherry on the top is the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
In the setting of the beautiful 18 hole golf course at Pebble Beach, the world’s most exotic vehicles take part in a scenic tour, including parts of Monterey’s famed 17-Mile Drive. This year, the course will also include a lap at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as well as glamorous sponsored events such as the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Concorso Italiano, and the Quail, a Motorsport Gathering to give spectators plenty of chance to see some vintage automobile models in action.
There will also be the opportunity for spectators to make a purchase of their very own luxury car with auction houses including Bonhmas, RM Auctions and Gooding and Company. Those taking part can expect to see such beauties as the 1962 Shelby 260 Cobra, a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet, and a 1955 Aston Martin DB3S that may price up to as much as $7 million under the hammer.
